DEFERIET - Ann J. Higgins, 77, of Riverside Dr., passed away at her home on Saturday, August 18, 2018, under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Ann was born on May 14 1941, the daughter of Howard and Dorothy Warner. She attended school in Felts Mills, Watertown, Black River and she graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1958. She went on to graduate from Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, NY and was later employed by the House of Good Samaritan as a medical secretary until her marriage.
Ann married Paul Higgins on November 16, 1963. The couple resided in Deferiet and at their cottage on Pleasant Lake.
She enjoyed many hobbies such as gardening and crafting. Later in life, she enjoyed playing quick draw with her friends. Her main focus always remained her family. Her unwaivering love and support as well as her valued opinion and advice were a blessing to each member.
Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul; two daughters, Susan (Tim) Percy, Black River, NY; Christine (Duane) Cassoni, Black River, NY; a sister, Debra (Larry) Gidney, Carthage, NY; two step brothers, James Warner, Maine; and Donald Warner, Seattle, WA. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her mother and stepfather, Dorothy and Robert Burrows; her father and stepmother, Howard and Belly Warner; and a brother, Carl Warner.
She will be remembered as being kind, smart, generous and selfless. She always possessed a great sense of humor and quick wit. Ann will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is and always will be greatly loved and missed.
